Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd December - Markets Cancelled
We are deeply heartbroken to announce that all our markets scheduled for this weekend have been cancelled due to the forecast of strong, gusty winds throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Organisers of the monthly Artisan Market at Barton Marina have decided to cancel the event due to health and safety concerns which was scheduled to take place this Sunday, 17th July.
The Met Office has issued an Amber Warning for extreme heat on Sunday. Whilst temperatures are high this week, exceptionally high temperatures are possible during Sunday and could lead to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure.
Jamie Walker of CJ's Events Warwickshire said: 'We do not cancel markets lightly, but taking into account the extreme heat warning issued, we have to consider the safety of not only our team but our traders and visitors.'
'From previous patterns of markets and events taking place in hot weather, footfall will be dramatically down, as people do not tend to come out and walk around in extreme heat.'
'We do not believe it would be safe or sensible for our team to set up 60 stalls in such extreme heat. We also have to consider our trader's safety and where they'd be standing around for over 7 hours behind their stalls.'
'Extreme heat presents risks to public health and we do not want to be in a position where we have traders or visitors falling ill, with no advanced and equipped medical team on-site. Whilst this is disappointing, the health and safety of everyone involved must be our priority.'
The Artisan Market will return on Sunday 21st August 2022.
